NaNoWriMo Fast Approacheth

What in the world - some of you may be asking - is NaNoWriMo? It stands for National Novel Writing Month and it occurs each year November 1st - November 30th.  During the thirty days you are challenged to turn off the ever-annoying internal editor and pound out a 50,000 word novel.  Well, the first draft of said novel.

Last year was the first time I took on the NaNoWriMo challenge.  I'm happy to say I finished off November 2009 with 53,700 words toward a brand new novel.  As of now, I still have about ten percent of that book to complete.  More on this in a near-future post.

I have never experienced anything like NaNo in my life.  Obviously I loved it because I am definitely participating again this year.  It's an exhilerating, chaotic, eye opening, amazing thirty days.  Every moment spent working on my novel - whether alone or at a write-in with a group of writers - was worth it.

I can't say enough wonderful things about the NaNoWriMo experience.  If you've ever thought you wanted to write a book - I encourage you to join the fun and the madness in November.  The feeling of accomplishment when you reach your 50,000 words is brilliant.  Go on, sign up.  I promise, you have nothing to lose.
