May the Fourth Be With You

No automatic alt text available.

As avid Star Wars fans we had to watch something relating to the series this evening. We all wore Star Wars t-shirts today then watched The Empire Strikes this evening. These movies are timeless and it means a lot to my husband and I to share this fandom that we grew up on with our children.

Dewey's 24-Hour readathon

Sign-ups are open for the April 28th edition of Dewey's 24-Hour readathon! This is a fun event where the emphasis is on reading. However, there are plenty of other fun book related activities you can take part in, as well. If you fancy taking part you can go to their website to sign up. Oh, and there's absolutely no pressure to read the entire twenty-four hours. I've never been able to participate the entire time but I've always had fun with it.

Teaser Tuesday: Birthright by Nora Roberts

Teaser Tuesday is newly hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. To play along, just do the following:

- Grab your current read

- Open to a random page

- Share two “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR list if they like your teaser.

My teaser this week is from Birthright by Nora Roberts:

"It occurs to me that we got to be a lot of things to each other, but we never got to be friends. I'd like to take a shot at it."

Hello March

No automatic alt text available.

I love March! The anticipation of Spring, the blooming flowers, longer days (some of which are even slightly warmer) and all the GREEN make me SO HAPPY! Granted, I live in Southern California so we don't have to worry about snow in the winter but I still enjoy the start of Spring and the feeling of renewal that goes wit it. And did I mention all the green? :) It is my favorite color as the above picture probably indicates.

My teaser this week is from page 272 of J.D. Robb's Dark in Death:

"Damn it, Roarke, goddamn it. She just had to stay home."

"Baby." He moved to her, drew her in. "Some can't. For some, being alone is a kind of death."

Dark in Death trailer

I'm reading Dark in Death by J.D. Robb. It is the 46th installment of her popular In Death series. I'm only a few chapters into it but it is SO GOOD! I can't wait to get back to at bedtime.

Tulips are my favorite flower - especially yellow ones. This is not my image but one from a Google search. I needed to look at pretty tulips this evening and thought I would share them.

White Christmas

My favorite Christmas movie! We watched it tonight and will definitely watch it again this season. It's so joyful and all of the dancing is wonderful - especially the tap!

Musing Monday: Books to screen

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme hosted by The Purple Booker that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer:
  • I’m currently reading…
  • Up next I think I’ll read…
  • I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
  • I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I can’t wait to get a copy of…
  • I wish I could read ___, but…
  • I blogged about ____ this past week…

This weeks random question:Are there any books you want to see made into a TV show or movie?

YES! I would LOVE to see the In Death series by J.D. Robb made into a series of movies. A television show could work too if it was done right. Speaking of this series, which happens to be my favorite - I am reading and loving the latest book Secrets in Death.

Dewey's 24-hour readathon - Opening Survey

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today? Southern California, U.S.A.

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? Secrets in Death by J.D. Robb. It came out in September and I've been saving it to read today - during the readathon.

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to? At the moment I'm thinking breakfast which will definitely include coffee and fruit and possibly a cinnamon roll.

4) Tell us a little something about yourself! I'm a mom who is happy to say that my children love participating in the readathon with me. I'm also an author and a voracious reader - obviously. :)

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I've been participating in the readathon for several years. For the first time ever I actually started on time. That's saying something because the start time here is 5:00 in the morning. If I need a nap, later I'm going to take and not feel bad about it. :)
