Some Books Need the Right Time

I have just started reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows. This is the third time I've gotten this book from the library but the first time I'm actually reading it. I'm only 20 pages into the book but liking it so far. I've heard people say that some books just need to be read at the right time. For me, this is quite true with this book. The first time I got it from the library - I ran out of time and had to return it without ever cracking the spine. The second time I got the book - it turned out I simply wasn't in the mood to read it. This time, i was determined to read the darn book and started it right away. The time is right for me and this book because I am going right back to it once I'm done with this blog post.

  1. Downloaded this one to my ipod last week. Hope to start it in a few days, after I finish listening to The Road (did you read that one?). Yay - another book we can discuss! :)

  2. Gena - The Road is another one that I haven't gotten to at 'the right time' I guess. I've started it a couple of times and end up putting it down. I always hear positive reviews of it (even though it's a dreary topic) so will have to try it again -- someday.
