Teaser Tuesday: The Spinster's Guide to Scandalous Behavior by Jennifer McQuiston
Teaser Tuesday is newly hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. To play along, just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR list if they like your teaser.
My teaser this week is from The Spinster's Guide to Scandalous Behavior by Jennifer McQuiston:
The girl must have a core of steel to cross her father in this way. In fact, there were elements to her letter that reminded him suspiciously - painfully - of a certain deceased spinster. Miss Westmore sounded like a very determined young woman, and if she was anything like her aunt, he'd made a misstep in negotiating with her father instead of her.

Musing Monday: Next up
Musing Mondays is a weekly meme hosted by The Purple Booker that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer:
- I’m currently reading…
- Up next I think I’ll read…
- I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
- I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
- I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
- I can’t wait to get a copy of…
- I wish I could read ___, but…
- I blogged about ____ this past week…
The In Death series of books by J.D. Robb is my favorite series. Her latest is out (technically tomorrow) and this is the book I am going to read next. I LOVE this series and feel emotionally invested in the characters Robb has created. This is the 46th book in the series and to me it still feels fresh and dynamic and as if there is still a lot of story t tell. I can't wait to dive into the world of this book.

Books to continue 24in48
We finished the books we were reading today. So m daughter and I went to the library and Barnes and Noble for more books. We have now started The Metropolitans. Later this evening I will start Need to Know. I'm not sure we're going to make the entire 24 hours but we'll see. It's great fun to read all of us together any which way you look at it and regardless of the amount of time.

24in48 readathon
I will be participating (for the first time) in the 24in48 readathon this weekend. In fact, it begins at midnight so just a couple of hours now. This means that I will read for 24 hours of the 48 hour weekend. I just decided to do this tonight so technically I haven't prepared., However, I'm a lifelong bookworm so I have plenty of books to choose from to read. I have two on the go right now that I will finish this weekend I'm reading and will finish Diary of an Accidental Wallflower for myself and will finish reading The Magic Misfits to my kids. Both have been highly enjoyable books so far.
After those two books are done I will of course choose others. Actually, I'll let my kids choose the next book I read to them. I'm not sure exactly what I wil grab for myself either but will check in with updates over the course of the weekend.
Have any of you ever participated in this particular readathon?

Writing again
I'm so happy to be writing fiction again. I took December off to give myself a break from everything, to spend the holidays focused on my family and to evaluate my goals. I knew I wanted to keep writing. I still know I want to be published but I needed the time off in order to remind myself that I write because I LOVE it. I think it's okay - more than okay actually - to want to be published but at the core I believe one should write because they have an intrinsic love for doing so. When I realized that I was actually missing the act of writing for the pleasure of discovering and telling the story in my head it was a relief. Yes, a relief.
I've had a certain story in my head for a few years now but never felt ready to tell it. I'm ready to tell it now and have started writing it. I started it last week and have made a bit of progress on it. I'm going to write this stor while continuing to submit my others. I won't give up but I won't lose track of my love for the writing again either.

My teaser this week is from Diary of an Accidental Wallflower by Jennifer McQuiston:
She was being selfish, only thinking of herself and her dangerous reaction to the kiss that probably hadn't meant anything. In sending Daniel away, had she just removed the most important positive influence in Lucy's and Geoffrey's lives?

I am currently reading Diary of an Accidental Wallflower by Jennifer McQuiston who is a newly discovered author for me. I am loving this book so very much. It's well-written and quite funny. In face, I laughed so hard at part of the book this book this afternoon that I actually snorted. I then had to call my husband and share the scene in the book with him because I knew he'd find it funny, as well. He did and we both learned a new word in the process. I'm thrilled that this is the first book in a trilogy. I will definitely be reading the next two books.

A tease about rain
It was supposed to storm here the other day. For a long while it looked like it was going to. It even sprinkled a little bit but then it cleared up. While the sky looked gorgeous we were all bummed that it didn't actually rain. We love to be at home all together, cozy and warm with hot cocoa, good books and good movies. Oh well, we had all of that without the rain. However, we are hoping for rain to come soon. Nothing damaging, of course, but we could use a good soak.

Tulips are my favorite flower - especially yellow ones. This is not my image but one from a Google search. I needed to look at pretty tulips this evening and thought I would share them.

New square
Here's my first square in my new greens and ivory for this new blanket. I love all my colors but feel that this square looks a little busy. Oh well, I'm glad I tried out all the new colors. Now I know I want to use less of them for each square moving forward.

Cotton yarn
About a week ago I started getting really itchy while using my acrylic yarn. So I made the switch to cotton yarn for my current project. I've used this cotton many times and knew that I'd love it.

Bleed for art
I've seen and heard this quote from Ernest Hemingway many times. I've had mixed emotions and opinions about it, too. Currently, I feel as if it is the absolute truth.

My teaser this week is from Do You Want to Start a Scandal by Tessa Dare:
Most of his life he had managed people in much the same way. Not because he had disdain for them, or an inflated sense of his own importance, but because emotion could too easily skew his shot. Detachment was key - and it had never been a struggle.
Until now.
Until Charlotte.

I am finally reading Do You Want to Start a Scandal by Tessa Dare. I waited for quite some time for it to come into my librar and it never did. While I was waiting I read all of the two series that the book links (Spindle Cove and Castles Ever After). I found myself looking forward to this book more and more. I've read the beginning of this book and enjoyed it quite a bit. I hope the rest of the book lives up to my expectations.

We were finally able to celebrate Christmas and New Year's with some family of ours tonight. We had a wonderful time and we miss them already. I think it's the most wonderful thing to have family that you also consider friends.

True friends
This is so true. I had dinner with one of my best friends tonight. It had been too long since we'd seen one another but once we were together it felt like no time had passed. I treasure our friendship - always have and always will.
